In vitro evaluation of microleakage in Class II composite restorations: High-viscosity bulk-fill vs conventiona…

2019

This study compared marginal microleakage of Class II cavities restored with bulk-fill resin (Filtek™ Bulk Fill) and conventional composite resin (Filtek™ Supreme XTE). Two standardized Class II cavities were prepared in forty extracted human molars. The gingival margin was located above the cemento-enamel junction for twenty molars (groups 1 and 2) and apically for the other twenty (groups 3 and 4) (n=20). The occlusomesial cavity was filled with bulk-fill resin by insertion in bulk (groups 1 and 3) and the occlusodistal cavity was restored with conventional composite using incremental technique (groups 2 and 4). The teeth were thermocycled (500 cycles 5-55°C), stained and observed under l…

Marginal quality of a full-body bulk-fill composite placed with an universal adhesive system in etch-and-rinse and self-etch mode: An

2020

Background Marginal seal of a nanohybrid bulk-fill composite compared to a nanohybrid conventional composite, using a universal adhesive (UA) applied in etch-and-rinse (ER) and self-etch (SE) mode was investigated. Material and Methods Thirty-six intact molars were selected and two standardized cavities in each tooth were prepared and allocated into four groups according to restorative material and etching strategy. All samples were placed in a 1% methylene blue solution for 24 h, then cut in the middle of the restorations obtaining two parts (n=144) and used for microscopic evaluation (50x) for dye penetration measurements. Results The data were analysed by ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc test (p…

Color stability of Bulk-Fill composite restorations

2020

Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T19:29:50Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2020-11-01 Background: The color stability of the composite resin is an important property that influences its clinical longevity, which remains an inherent challenge to the material. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the color stability of bulk-fill resins when exposed to dye. Material and Methods: Cavities were prepared in 80 bovine incisors, which were randomly assigned into 4 groups (n = 20) according with the resin composite used: P60 (Control Group - Filtek P60, 3M/ESPE), FP (Filtek Bulk-Fill Posterior, 3M/ESPE), SDR (SDR, Dentsply) and FF (Filtek Bulk Fill Flow, 3M/ESPE).
